# Upload Voiceover

Upload your own audio to a Supademo to narrate any step with pre-recorded MP3, MP4, or WAV files, on a per-step basis, mixed with AI or recorded narration.

Uploading pre-recorded audio gives you full control over how your demo sounds — a professional voice actor, studio-produced narration, or audio you've already recorded elsewhere. Files attach **on a per-step basis**, so each step can have its own audio track that plays back during your demo. It is one of four narration methods in [Voiceovers](https://docs.supademo.com/customize/voiceovers).

## Upload an Audio File to a Step

1. Open the **Voiceover** panel on the step you want to narrate.
2. Go to the **Manual Voiceover** tab and click **Upload voice**.
3. Upload an MP3, MP4, WAV, or other common audio file for that step.
4. Click **Save**, then confirm with **Proceed with changes**.

Repeat for each step you want narrated. Steps without an uploaded file keep whatever narration they already have, so a partial upload is fine — you don't have to replace an entire demo's audio to swap one step.

## Supported Files and Playback

Supademo accepts MP3, MP4, WAV, and other common audio formats. Each file belongs to a single step, and the track plays back on that step while a viewer moves through your demo, exactly as generated narration would. Because uploads are per step, the length of each file should match the time a viewer spends on that slide.

## When to Upload Instead of Generating

Upload audio when the recording already exists or has to meet a standard the editor can't produce on its own:

* You hired a professional voice actor or produced narration in a studio.
* Your narration was edited with music, effects, or precise timing.
* Brand or compliance requirements mean the audio has to be signed off before it ships.
* You recorded the narration elsewhere and want to reuse it across demos.

For everything else, generating narration in the editor is faster — see [Instant AI Voiceover](https://docs.supademo.com/customize/voiceovers/instant-ai-voiceover) for AI narration, or [Record Voiceover](https://docs.supademo.com/customize/voiceovers/record-voiceover) to record in-app.

## Mix Uploads with Other Methods

You can mix and match uploaded files with manually recorded voiceovers and AI narration across steps in the same demo. Custom audio helps make your Supademo feel more authentic, whether you're using a professional voice actor, adding a personal touch, or narrating in your own style.
